Ever wondered what goes on behind the sparkle? Designing jewellery isn’t just about pretty sketches and shiny finished pieces — it’s a blend of creativity, problem-solving, mess, magic, and a whole lot of coffee. Here’s a peek behind the scenes into a typical day in the studio.
5:30am — Sketching & Designing
Sketchbook open, pencils everywhere, and sometimes a small pile of rejected doodles growing beside me.
Every piece must look beautiful and function beautifully. I often reference our most-loved silhouettes from the necklaces collection and earrings collection to make sure new designs flow naturally with what our customers already love.
The day starts quietly. This is the moment before the rest of the world wakes up — when new ideas feel closest to the surface. I scroll through my inspiration boards, sip my coffee, and let colours, textures, and shapes start whispering ideas.
This is often when I refine concepts or review customer favourites in the bestsellers to inspire updated designs.
8:30am — Sampling & Materials
This is where ideas turn into physical pieces.
I’ll sift through trays of chains, stones, charms, and samples — searching for the perfect match. Some combinations shine instantly. Others… straight to the “nope” pile.
This is also where I test components to ensure they meet our standards.
12:00pm — Business Mode On
Creativity fuels the business, but the business keeps creativity alive.
Lunchtime is usually spent replying to suppliers, reviewing production samples, planning launches, organising media, or preparing photoshoots for collections like New Arrivals or Bestsellers.
2:30pm — Photography & Content
Modern jewellery design is also storytelling.
Some afternoons are dedicated to shooting flat lays, filming styling reels, or photographing pieces for upcoming additions to our catalogue or lookbooks.
4:00pm — Packaging, Shipping & Small Wins
On order days, I wrap each piece carefully, often adding a handwritten note.
Many of these pieces are destined for special moments — birthdays, anniversaries, or “just because” treats. You can explore our most giftable pieces by collection.
5:30pm — Creative Reset
The end of the day brings a quiet reset. I tidy the studio, jot down new ideas, and plan tomorrow’s tasks.
Why I Love What I Do
Being a jewellery designer is a blend of art, emotion, craftsmanship, and business. It’s messy and meticulous. Chaotic and calm. But when a piece leaves the studio and becomes part of someone’s story — that’s the real magic.
